Twigfarm, an AI-powered content localization company, has unveiled LETR ToonVoice, an artificial intelligence service that generates voices for webtoon characters.
LETR ToonVoice is a technology that extends traditional text-based webtoons into voice-enabled content by generating character-specific voices that match each character’s personality and situation. According to the company, this enhances the storytelling experience, allowing readers to engage with webtoons in a more immersive and dynamic way.
Twigfarm stated that the technology can also provide a new level of accessibility for readers who face difficulties engaging with text, such as children or visually impaired users. Moreover, by standardizing the voices of webtoon characters, the service can ensure consistency when those characters are adapted into secondary works such as animations, dramas, or games.
The company is positioning this service as a new content format called “VoiceToon”, which can open the door to various monetization opportunities, including character voice-based merchandise, OSTs, and voice content. Unlike traditional dubbing or voice actor casting, Twigfarm’s AI-driven approach offers improved production efficiency and scalability.
Twigfarm is currently developing a foundation model specialized in AI for content creation and is expanding its application scope from video to webtoons. Having already developed and deployed AI dubbing technologies in the video content sector, the company is now applying that expertise to the webtoon industry.
Twigfarm concluded by stating that it plans to continue advancing this technology in order to strengthen its competitive edge in the field of content AI.
